After all the intense focus and detail I had to put into “Wound Up”, I knew that I would want my next project to be more colorful, fun, and free.
I painted my cowgirl boot for my sister earlier this year (see “Elisa’s Boot”). It was painted in a dual palette, matching the colors of a cozy cottage we stayed at in the Bahamas this March. I did the boot freehand, and it turned out better than I was anticipating. I knew I wanted to do more like it, and this seemed to be the perfect time.
And so… I spent a whole weekend covered in paint, mixing pretty colors, and free handing cowgirl boots. The color palette behind each piece is inspired by a special part of Montana’s nature.
The final outcome was the Quick Draw Boots - Montana Palette.
Each piece lives in duality. The background is smooth and print-like, while the lines of the boot are raised and full of movement. The dual-tone palette of each piece lives in high contrast, representing wildflowers, trees, and natural concepts. I wanted this series to look uniform at first glance, but if you take a closer look, you’ll see that there are major differences in each painting.
This collection will be installed at Mōtiv Fitness in Austin, TX on January 10th. I can’t wait to hang them up side by side for people to enjoy.
The boots are available for pre-sale if one of them strikes your fancy. Shoot me an email if you are interested. Each painting will be professionally framed.
