ABOUT
Hi, I’m Meg. Born in Baltimore, based in Austin, and a frequently found in Montana.
For over a decade, I focused on photorealistic graphite and watercolor portraits, mostly of dogs and primarily on commission. That detail-oriented work taught me patience, precision, and allowed me to connect with and create for a lot of wonderful people.
A few years ago I decided to teach myself how to paint with oils. The shift in medium has allowed me to break from my perfectionistic tendencies and express original ideas. I love the ability it gives me to play with gesture, color, and subject matter.
My practice is influenced by my roots in photorealism and monochromatic work, along with my newer explorations of color and gesture. I am heavily inspired by my time as a horse wrangler and the beautiful state of Montana, along with the years I have spent living in Texas and growing up as a “horse girl” who loves nature and being outside.
I studied Art History at the University of Texas at Austin, where I earned my BFA in 2017. My foundation in Art History has influenced how I see the world and how I choose to express myself in it. Currently accepting commissions.
