“Poolside Nostalgia” is my attempt to capture that nostalgic feeling of summer: laying on warm concrete in a wet swimsuit, taking a break between swims, and reaching for your favorite poolside snacks.
The painting is built in three collage-inspired layers. The rippling blue background is a closeup of a lake I hiked to this summer. The blocks of color capture the feeling of summer heat. And the photo-realistic snacks are supposed to feel ready to eat.
As a nod to my childhood, I included my personal go-to poolside treats: a bomb pop and a bag of salt ’n vinegar chips. I grew up in Maryland, so of course… they had to be Utz.
This piece is a 12” x 16” original oil on canvas panel and is available for purchase.
